Project Vandavasi

Project Vandavasi is an initiative of Fellowship India Church to help the poverty stricken rural areas of Vandavasi and enable them to come out of poverty.

Vandavasi is a Municipality city in district of Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. Vandavasi lies 110 kms South-West of Chennai city. It consists of over 200 villages.

It has a population of over 31,000 with more women than men. Children below the age of 15 constitute a major part of the population. Vandavasi consists primarily of Schedule classes/Dalits. It is also home to large population of Irulars, who are an ethnic group from South India. Vandavasi had a very strong presence of The British empire. ‘Wandiwash’ is the Anglicised pronunciation of Vandavasi.

People are primarily involved in agriculture, animal husbandry and household industries. However, most of the residents live in poverty.

Our primary focus at this point is on 46 villages. Currently, over 150 students attend Sunday-School from these villages.

“..Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” – Matthew 25:40.

We, as a church, are happy and excited to extend our arms to help our brothers and sisters in Vandavasi and share the love of Christ with those who would otherwise not have an opportunity to experience it.
